More builders are moving from single-family homes into multi-family and commercial projects — and that means stepping from Part 9 into Part 3 of the BC Building Code.

That jump comes with major changes.

In this practical session, Chief Building Official Marc Vere will explain the key differences between Part 9 and Part 3 buildings and what that means for your permits, consultants, and timelines.

What you will hear:

  • When a project triggers Part 3
  • What changes between Part 9 and Part 3
  • Increased expectations for engineers and registered professionals
  • Fire protection and life safety differences
  • Common mistakes that cause permit delays
  • Where applications typically get hung up
