SUMMARY:Building Envelope Mockup Expo - Energy Efficient Code-Ready Solutions - Cranbrook
DESCRIPTION:📅Wednesday\, October 7\, 2026\n📍Prestige Rocky Mountain Resort - 209 Van Horne St. South Cranbrook BC\n⏰8:00 am to 12:00 pm (MDT)\n💰$100.00+GST\n🎓 CPD: 4 pointsThe 2026 Builder Mock-up Fest (The Fest) is a unique\, half-day in-person training event providing flexible\, drop-in professional development for Part 9 builders interested in expanding their knowledge of high-performance construction. This training is specifically designed to support the adoption of Steps 4 and 5 of the BC Energy Step Code (ESC) and Emission Level 2+ of the Zero Carbon Step Code (ZCSC) requirements. The Fest encourages guided and self-exploration through a series of hands-on educational stations. These stations showcase a mix of physical or digital building enclosure mock-ups with durable\, constructible\, and regionally appropriate solutions for higher-R-value assemblies and airtight detailing.Participants will walk away with a physical workbook detailing key learning concepts and resources for future reference. Additionally\, the event offers networking opportunities\, a panel discussion\, and a dedicated "Coffee Corner" to ask questions with Energy Advisors or Building Science Specialists. This early exposure to tested solutions will help builders gain confidence faster and reduce the risks of using new low-energy technologies on their projects.By the end of this course\, trainees will be able to:1. Recognize the jump in performance requirements necessary to meet BC Energy Step Code (ESC) Steps 4 and 5 and Zero Carbon Step Code (ZCSC) Emission Level 2+.\n2. Implement key detailing approaches to achieve high-performance airtightness.\n3. Evaluate insulation and air barrier strategies based on buildability\, continuity\, and renewability.\n4. Apply constructible and regionally appropriate building enclosure solutions demonstrated by mock-ups to mitigate risks on future projects.\n5. Use knowledge of code requirements to optimize the building enclosure to meet mechanical efficiency and operation requirements.*To help you get the most out of the 2026 Builder Mock-up Fest\, please review the suggested materials and technology options below. Some activities at the event may offer digital resources\, interactive exercises\, or audio/video demonstrations that can be accessed using your own device.Recommended Materials to Bring:Smartphone or Tablet: Some stations may offer digital content or interactive activities accessible via QR codes or online links. Bringing a fully charged smartphone or tablet is highly recommended to take advantage of these features. Wi-Fi will be available at the venue.Notebook and Pen: If you prefer to take notes or complete workbook activities in a physical formatPRESENTED BY: James Bourget | RDH Building Science**Community Energy Association is offering a $50 subsidy for the Cranbrook session. Participants who attend the session in full will receive the subsidy refunded after the event.
