This four-hour workshop gives builders, trades, site supervisors, and Part 9 stakeholders in the Kamloops region practical, real-world training on building-science fundamentals and how trade coordination directly affects Step Code and Zero Carbon performance. The focus is on strengthening communication between builders, energy advisors, and key trades to reduce installation issues, improve durability, and achieve consistent high-performance outcomes.
Participants will learn how core building-science principles—air, heat, and moisture control—interact across assemblies and where coordination often breaks down on site. The session introduces the Integrated Design Process (IDP) as a practical approach for aligning teams early so performance targets can be met with fewer reworks and callbacks. Regional Step Code and Zero Carbon requirements are reviewed, with clear explanations of how trade sequencing, envelope details, and mechanical choices influence TEDI, MEUI, airtightness, and overall compliance.
The workshop wraps up with quality-control strategies and accountability practices that builders and trades can apply immediately to active projects.
