Job Details:

• This is a full-time position (2 vacancies) for 3 years and (at least) 40 hours per week  

• Wage: $31-$45

• Benefits: there are no benefits included in this job offer

Job Duties:

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements

• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools

• Form and strip footings

• Install ICF blocks and bracing

• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials

• Build foundations, install floor beams and floor packages, lay sub-flooring and erect walls and roof systems and roof truss packages

• Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware

• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in residential and light commercial buildings

• Supervise apprentices and other construction workers

Skills / Education Requirements:

• Successful completion of high school is preferred but not required.

• Red Seal or ITA Trade Certificate or evidence of the skills to obtain one preferred, including either successful completion of a three- to four-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over four years of work experience as a carpenter and some high school, college or industry courses in carpentry

• In possession of a valid driver’s license

• Able to drive a trailer and back it up

• Able to lift heavy loads

• Willingness to travel to job sites

• A flexible attitude towards working hours, including Saturday, Sunday and evenings, is expected
