Truss Production Sawyer

Position Overview:

Kamloops Truss LTD is seeking a skilled and motivated Truss Production Sawyer to join our dynamic team. The Truss Production Sawyer will be responsible for operating turbo saws to accurately cut truss components according to specifications, ensuring the highest standards of quality and precision. This role involves strict adherence to safety procedures, equipment maintenance, and efficient production support. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a truss or construction environment, a strong understanding of safety regulations, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities:

Operate Turbo Saws:

• Efficiently and safely operate turbo saws as per the operator’s manual and onsite safety training.
• Pick lumber for the saws in accordance with WWTABC quality control standards.
• Stack lumber from the saws to allow assemblers to build safely and efficiently.
• Move carts of cut pieces to their assigned build tables. Open electronic saw files and arrange jobs for efficient production times correlating to scheduled deliveries.

Safety Compliance:

• Take part in completing a daily Field Level Hazard Assessment (FLHA) with the Lead Hand prior to starting work.
• Follow all safety procedures and regulations set forth by Kamloops Truss LTD.
• Ensure WorkSafe BC compliance during all operations.
• Do not operate any equipment without adequate training and completed documentation to verify.
• Ensure lockout procedures are followed during all maintenance procedures.
• Be aware of forklifts and always maintain eye contact when there is a forklift in the area.

Equipment Maintenance:

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance on saws and related equipment.
• Assist with the maintenance of all shop equipment in accordance with WorkSafe BC standards and record-keeping guidelines.
• Assist in the general maintenance and cleanliness of the work areas within Kamloops Truss.

Production Support:

• Assist in maintaining an organized and clean work environment.
• Ensure all materials are correctly staged for production and that completed packages are moved safely and efficiently.
• Available, when necessary, to assist with general shop duties and regular shop operations as requested by the Lead Hand and the Production Manager.
• Accept cross-training opportunities and provide coverage for other positions within the production plant as required.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience operating saws, particularly in a truss or construction environment, is preferred.
• Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Good physical condition, capable of lifting and moving materials as required.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Job Type: Full-Time.

Salary: $24.00-$28.00/hr. based on a combination of skills and experience.

Schedule: 8-hour shift - Monday – Friday, no weekends, overtime may be required.
